The customer called because the home was not cooling. We found the outdoor fan was not running due to a failed capacitor, which was reading zero on all terminals. We also found the compressor had high locked rotor (LRA) startup amps. We replaced the capacitor and recommended installing a soft start kit to reduce startup amps and help prevent future compressor failure. The system is now operating and cooling properly.
